With the virus outbreak coinciding with Chinese New Year – a traditional gift-giving season – jewelry demand dropped approximately 6% according to sources cited in today’s featured article. That’s on top of last year’s already-known drop.
Not really a surprise given that many towns were essentially quarantined in place, greatly restricting travel, and trips to places like shopping malls and jewelry stores.
